LAWMAKERS MUST VOTE ‘NO’ ON THE FAR-RIGHT BORDER DEAL THAT TARGETS IMMIGRANT AND PALESTINIAN COMMUNITIES

PASSING THIS LEGISLATION WOULD FURTHER THREATEN DUE PROCESS AND DEMOCRACY

“Michigan People’s Campaign strongly condemns the legislative package that would affect the U.S.–Mexico border. We urge lawmakers to vote NO on H.R. 6678, 6679, 5585, and 6976.

“We are angered that lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are celebrating the bipartisanship of a bill that attacks immigrant and Palestinian communities, as well as further erodes due process, especially during an election year where the key message is protecting democracy. Palestinian and immigrant communities should not have to pay the price for President Biden’s military funding request. 

“Democrats must stop ceding ground to the far-right GOP, or they risk harming the community they represent. If Democrats wish to stay in power, they must stop using our communities as political pawns and focus on winning material victories for the working class, such as funding for education, healthcare, and urgent environmental action. 

“To avoid enacting some of the most anti-immigrant and anti-democratic legislation in recent history, lawmakers must vote NO on H.R. 6678, 6679, 5585, and 6976 and instead pursue immigration policies that uphold the values of justice, compassion, and inclusivity for all individuals.”
